Well, great news----that wonderful word that rings in the ears of writers everywhere:   PRINT.   Hear the bells ring! 

But first......
Yes, I know,  mea culpa ,  time flies, and  I have been m.i.a.  --and  haven't posted here on IB blogspot.com for some time,  but that's what happens when we are up to our necks in everything. Summer. Gardening. Pruning. Fishing. Weeding. Grass cutting. Lawnmower repairs. Visiting. Picking apples. Hosting.  Fall crops, blogging,  harvesting, making apple Jack, sauerkraut, and all things good. Editing, cultivating, writing, fixing, reading,  rewriting,  repairing, creating,  building stuff, winter coming on, taps leaking, you name it!
We've all been there, right Life is a merry-go-round at times. We survive!

Of course my loyal readers all know by now that we  write at  IncomingBytes.com   my blog-portfolio --IB's sister site,  and continue the discussion on all kinds of interesting stuff.

WELCOME to 2012 !!!  Happy New Year!

At Incoming Bytes,  I must admit that I am always inspired by great writing.  Excellent writers, aware of it or not, are my mentors--and my heroes.   No matter what genre,  I enjoy good writing, and that includes intriguing, wonderfully-written professional blogs I have discovered.  

Some are genuine diamonds  I have happily stumbled upon, but interestingly, many of the BEST  are written by good friends in my writing circles.
There are many blogs out there --and clearly, I cannot list them all, but in this new year, we will continue to enjoy the best.
  For 2012, let's start out right with some wonderful reading recommendations.

• Let's learn to enjoy natural life more by reading  a wonderful gardening blog  Glory's Garden  by our very  own  gardening zeitgeist Glory Lennon. 

Whether  writing  about vegetables, flowers, discussing sugar-maple trees, or displaying exotics from Florida,   Glory's  exciting love for all things growing will keep you interested and coming back for more.    At times Glory  travels about, photographing exotic flowers and plants for us, and shares her wonderful photos of wildlife,  birds -and dragons.   Well, okay, those were alligators, but Glory is a princess too,  so what? 

•     If you are intrigued by farm life, green acres covered with lush green grass,   bouncing lambs, big woolly sheep, majestic chickens and other aspects of farming wisdom, read Julie Helm's  Woolly Acres for a closer look at  where eggs come from,  how they turn into chicks when hatched, what very high-quality  natural wool looks like, --and even how to propagate meal-worms as a source of protein for chicken feed! 

• Learn about all kinds of  human intricacies. follies, and  relationships, and why they fail,  by checking in with the incredible wisdom  and common sense of Ann Marie Dwyer   at 'Mommas Money Matters' -that's  M3 for short.   

Ann Marie,  a.k.a." Red ", --a  savvy, prolific writer, --is a saucy, brilliant  blogger that asks,  analyzes, and gives you information you need;  then she asks leading and often  pointed questions of you --and tells you so much MORE about yourself.  Red wants to talk to YOU, so follow M3 carefully and participate !

Conny, a published author, has an amazingly honest,  accurate and unique way of "cutting to the chase" about everyday life.

• How is your ongoing sense of humor?  Want to be amused, informed, and also discuss issues as serious as the  'religion of misogyny " ?    Check in with Rachel Howells  Lala's Musings!     Rachel offers a beautifully-written blog with cutting insight--and hilarious sarcasm --into family life, human nature and it's folly, fun, and idiosyncrasies.  Rachel pulls no punches discussing serious issues -- and tells it like it IS. 

• Last but certainly not LEAST,  if you are scribbler of any sort;  a dedicated writer, author, or blogger, you already know, or are quickly discovering, that writing is a serious  business.   

Creative work or otherwise, Doreen Martel's  brilliant approach to writing as a business  on her website  "Freelancing and More" is an incredibly good website and includes much must-read  information for all writers.  
  Doreen  insists  she is not a "creative" writer--but her website and handling of the  tough subject matter  at hand is not only creative --but incredibly smart , timely, and informative.   Check out "Freelancing and More" and you'll soon see how Doreen's approach can help you.

 Yes, it seems Christmas has rolled around the corner once again.  A few more days of madhouse shopping, presents, parties,  time to enjoy good food, good company, and good times.  

Here at Incoming Bytes  we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  

We are blessed and fortunate.

How about others?   Let us not forget to give so others less fortunate can also enjoy this holiday. The question is always asked: Do our donations always end up being well used?  Perhaps not, but should that dampen the spirit of giving?  No.

Kindness  never hurts the giver.

For this holiday season and always, there are people on the street that will con others,-- but there are also people on the street in genuine need.

Give generously, God will sort them out. Charity is not only a kindness to those helped, but a kindness to the soul that gives.

Been naughty or nice this Christmas season?  Apparently it is hard to be perfect, isn't it?  Be happy, we all have our moments in the sun and otherwise.  
   I'm guessing that at some point in every author's life,   as polite as we try to be,   we are obligated to promote our own works of art, honk horns, ring bells,  raise a ruckus and beat on drums.  
Shameless self-promotion comes to mind. 
It is logical that timing is everything with seasonal and holiday-oriented works,  so  here goes ....

The Age of Light

The Age of Light is upon us

 The Age of Light is upon us.   The year  2012 is  almost here,-- the end of an era, the revelations of Mayan culture, strange planets are reported in "Before it's New".  Roswell revisited, all kinds of strange and wonderful sights seen,  misinterpreted, and misunderstood-some strange things are even admitted. 
  
All that in the midst of the  usual prescription of increasing economic tension, political international sabre-rattling, human failure and  failed predictions of gloom and doom, on two separate dates yet.  Let us not forget the past, the previous destruction of humanity and civility by any means, since Nov 11th Remembrance has also come and gone yet again, while the world is still at war.  

What shall we then  concentrate upon?  

I recently published Morgidoo's Christmas Carol, a new Christmas classic as an Ebook, and the subject of the Age of Light happened to be involved.
--The light from the Great Silver Bell and all that. 

A mere story, a work of fiction, a figment of a writer's imagination, ---or is it?   
Here at Incoming Bytes it always behooves us to examine such fascinating possibilities.  Weird stuff.  The unexpected, "incoming bytes " heading our way.
It is not a coincidence that one of the most interesting observations in life may be that writers not only record history and the past for posterity, but also to some degree, in fiction and literature,  imagine,create, extrapolate, project,  and somehow pen the details of the future, at times with unerring accuracy.  It is not a coincidence.


It is not a coincidence that the "age of dirty oil", pipelines, and choking greenhouse gases is not sustainable, nor is it wise to insist upon following that path .
 It is not a  coincidence that the nuclear disaster in Fukushima, Japan occurred, with radiation spreading as we speak.
It may, therefore also not be a coincidence that the favourite heading picture of Incoming Bytes  is that of blinding sunlight in a morning sunrise.  
Sunlight is the greatest, cleanest and most powerful force in nature--one that is easily harvested. Sunlight is free, universal, and endless.  It is the ideal alternative energy.

Nor is the symbolism of the Age of Light and the Great Silver Bell in Morgidoo's Christmas Carol  lost as a guidepost to the future--and with faith and belief,  offering HOPE for mankind. 
I'm hoping you'll read it some day.  There is a reason for everything, including  coincidence, destiny, and fiction.  Perhaps one day we shall all  understand that reality. 


All we have to do is actually  be smart enough to identify the signs already pointing us in the direction of the Age of Light.  If we collectively set our minds to the job at hand, our  civilization can be reinvented and a new Age of Light shall be upon us.
Think about it.  Start now.

Narrow Tires, Big Snow in Blister

Shall we  pine for the old days when a  Model 'T 'and other choice vintage vehicles drove  through heavy snow easily because they had very tall, narrow tires?  
The old cars were solid, weighed far more, and displayed much higher clearance than modern vehicles.
It is snowing as we speak;  hopefully in the morning  it shall not look like the snow in Morgidoo’s village. Even the  Blister General Store is closed.  Perhaps the price of gasoline hasn’t been raised there  yet,  -or over in  the village of 'Twill, a few miles across the hills.

Fantasy and creativity and magic are all an essential part of the human psyche.  Shall we close our eyes and dream?
